Pitlochry offers a good selection of excellent pubs, restaurants and a range of interesting local shops.

We are also home to The Pitlochry Festival Theatre which is world-renowned for the quality of its productions and its daily-changing repertoire. The Festival season of plays runs from May to October, and there are craft fairs, art exhibitions, concerts, and backstage tours taking place during the same period. There is also a fine restaurant with stunning views across the River Tummel to Ben Vrackie, and a coffee bar which is open for refreshment all day.

When you visit Scotland, Pitlochry is an ideal base for touring the glorious countryside of Perthshire, Royal Deeside, Speyside and beyond. It is only about 1¼ hours drive to either Edinburgh or Glasgow and only slightly more to Inverness or, take it easy and go by train for the day. Perth and St Andrews are also within easy reach.

You can go walking, golfing and fishing or just enjoy local attractions such as the Pitlochry Festival Theatre or just along the river from the theatre, by the Hydro-Electric Dam is the famous salmon ladder along which fish return to Loch Faskally above the Dam. There is an observation chamber where, if your luck is in, you'll see some of the 5,000 or so fish which swim up-river each season and of course our local whisky distilleries:-

Edradour acclaimed as Scotland's smallest, with a team of just three maltsmen, it also offers visitors a fascinating tour and a wee dram (free) and has a gift shop.
and Blair Athol – home of Bells Whisky which was founded in 1798, this is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries. The visitor centre tours (admission charge) include a ten-minute video presentation and explanation of the major stages in the distilling process; children under eight are not encouraged to take the tour.

The Heathergem Factory near the Tourist Office is the compact factory which produces a range of jewellery and other items with pressed coloured heather. It's a fascinating process, unique to Pitlochry, and the shop has a selection of gifts on sale.

Blair Castle, one of Scotland's most famous attractions which has been home to the Dukes of Atholl for over 700 years. and the famous House of Bruar are only a short drive away.
This is an ideal base with lots to do for both for those who like to relax and take things easy, and those who enjoy outdoor activities.
